I forgot to add two features to my words of praise: The scriptwriters were limited by the fact that TV’s Jim Bowie carried two knives and a rifle but never a handgun, unlike other TV western heroes. Such a restriction forces writers to be creative. And the tune and the lyrics of the theme song are great.

The Jim Bowie programs on your site brought back many happy memories of my childhood Friday nights. I’ve often thought of this series: the manly Scott Forbes (Jim); the great background music by The King’s Men; the witty dialog; the exciting action. Although I’ve read that some critics at the time were concerned about the show’s violence level, I considered the show somewhat family-oriented in that various characters often referred respectfully to Jim Bowie’s mother, brother and place of residence (Opaloosa). And then there was Scott Forbes’ interesting speaking style–a Southern accent? The series really impressed me.
