John Wayne made this movie in 1947 . This movie has fallen into public domain . John Wayne had been in the business since the 1920s and this was the first film he produced . By this time he really knew how to make a movie . He cast Gail Russell as the leading female in this film and Bruce Cabot and Harry Carey in major roles . The Harris Poll released in January of 2011 puts John Wayne 3rd in America’s favorite film stars he is the only deceased star on the list and the only one who has appeared on the poll every year since it first started in 1994 .

I really think this is in with the best 100 westerns ever made . All the wonderful western landscapes and hats, boots, horses and old west towns. This is one of my favorite westerns and everytime i watch this movie it even seems better than i remembered . Quirt Evans, an all round bad guy, is nursed back to health and sought after by Penelope Worth a quaker girl. He eventually finds himself having to choose between his world and the world Penelope lives in.
